Charlton Kings is a large parish immediately to the south‑east of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, England, sitting on the lower slopes of the Cotswolds scarp. The valley of the River Chelt cuts through the area and the parish is backed by limestone grassland and old quarries on Leckhampton Hill, giving pleasant walks and a distinctly rural edge despite close proximity to the town centre.
Historically a separate village with medieval roots, Charlton Kings expanded in the 19th and 20th centuries and today combines a strong village identity with suburban life: small shops, pubs, an active parish community and several conservation areas. It has good local schools (notably Balcarras School) and many residents commute into Cheltenham or nearby towns, while still taking part in Cheltenham’s cultural life such as the Cheltenham Festivals.
