The villages of Tutshill and Sedbury sit on the English side of the River Wye in the eastern fringe of the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, overlooking the steep wooded slopes of the Wye Valley with views towards the Severn Estuary and Wales. They lie immediately north of Chepstow and have a mix of Victorian and 20th‑century housing, making them popular commuter villages for people working in Bristol and Cardiff.
Locally the area is residential with village shops, pubs, schools and easy access to walking and cycling in the Forest of Dean and along the Wye; the region’s mining and ironworking past feeds into a modest tourism economy. Tutshill also attracts literary interest because J. K. Rowling lived there as a child and attended Wyedean School in nearby Chepstow, a small social detail that sits alongside a strong community atmosphere and regular local events.
