Cliddesden is a small village and civil parish a few miles south of Basingstoke, in the district of Basingstoke and Deane, Hampshire, England. Set in rolling chalk downland and farmland, the settlement retains a distinctly rural character with a mix of traditional cottages and more modern homes. It has an interesting transport history: the village once had a halt on the Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway, which famously featured in the 1929 film "The Wrecker" and still contributes to local interest in railway heritage.
Today Cliddesden is largely residential with agriculture still playing a role and many people commuting to Basingstoke and even London. Community life is typical of Hampshire villages, centred on a village hall, pub and local clubs (notably cricket), with occasional events that keep a strong village spirit while allowing easy access to nearby urban amenities.
