Hill Head is a coastal ward of Fareham in Hampshire, England, sitting on the north shore of the Solent. The shoreline mixes pebbles and sand at low tide with extensive mudflats that attract wading birds, making the area popular with birdwatchers as well as swimmers, sailors and scuba divers. It sits between Lee-on-the-Solent and Stubbington, with clear views across the water towards Portsmouth and easy access to nearby reserves such as Titchfield Haven.
Once a modest Victorian seaside spot, Hill Head today is largely residential with a strong community feel, a notable retirement population and a local economy focussed on leisure, small businesses and commuting to nearby naval and urban centres. The coast bears reminders of its wartime past - there was military activity during the Second World War and some coastal defences remain - and the ward still supports active sailing and diving clubs alongside vibrant local community groups.
