Bognor Regis is a traditional south-coast seaside town in the district of Arun, West Sussex, England. Once a small fishing settlement, it grew into a Victorian resort with a long promenade, shingle beach and a seafront character that earned it the royal suffix in 1929 after King George V convalesced there.
Today the town’s economy is largely driven by tourism, holiday accommodation and local services, and it is popular with retirees and day visitors for its relatively mild climate and easy access. Cultural life centres on local venues, seasonal events and a lively pier and promenade, while ongoing regeneration efforts address pockets of social and economic challenge common to many traditional seaside towns.
