Locks Heath is a suburban ward in the borough of Fareham, Hampshire, lying to the west of the town centre and close to Park Gate and Sarisbury. Built up from former heathland and farmland around the turn of the 20th century, it now combines a compact village-style shopping centre and residential streets with pockets of green space, small ponds and recreation grounds, giving it a semi-rural feel despite being close to larger urban areas.
Predominantly a family-oriented, commuter community with good local schools, the local economy is centred on retail and services in the village hub while many residents travel into Southampton and Portsmouth for work. There is an active community life with sports clubs, parish events and a village atmosphere that reflects its historic development from heath into a suburban neighbourhood.
