Bishop's Waltham is a historic market town and civil parish in the district of Winchester, Hampshire, England, set in the shallow valley of the Hamble a few miles south of the city of Winchester. The parish combines a compact high street of timber‑framed and Georgian buildings with surrounding chalk downland and mixed woodland, making it popular for local walks and countryside access.
It is best known for the atmospheric ruins of Bishop's Waltham Palace, a medieval episcopal residence, and for a long tradition of markets, independent shops, antiques and small craft businesses; historically there were mills and brickworks. A lively community scene, regular town events and convenient links to the South Downs and the surrounding Hampshire countryside give the area a distinct blend of historic character and contemporary village life.
