Mathon is a small rural parish in north Herefordshire, lying on the western fringes of the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the border with Worcestershire. The settlement occupies rolling pasture, orchards and hedgerow-lined lanes, and its long history is reflected in a medieval parish church and scattered farmsteads that speak of centuries of agricultural life.
Locally the economy remains largely agricultural, with mixed farming and cider orchards alongside a few small businesses, while some residents commute to nearby towns such as Ledbury or Malvern. There’s a strong village community spirit, conservation-minded initiatives and steady interest from walkers and visitors drawn to the attractive countryside and views over the Malverns.
