Binstead & Fishbourne

Binstead and Fishbourne sit on the northern shore of the Isle of Wight, a ribbon of settlement and shoreline tucked between Ryde and the wide waters of the Solent. The area combines low-lying coastline, creeks and mudflats with suburban streets, offering good views across to Portsmouth and easy access to the mainland via the ferry terminal at Fishbourne.

Once linked to small-scale quarrying and local maritime trades, the locality is now largely residential with a handful of shops, pubs and boatyards; it attracts walkers, birdwatchers and coastal sailors as well as commuters who value quick ferry links. There’s a quietly village-like social feel alongside the tourism and leisure trade that comes with being on the island’s northern fringe.
