Bouldnor is a small coastal hamlet on the north‑west side of the Isle of Wight in England, tucked between the estuary of the Newtown River and the open water of the Solent. It feels very much a quiet, maritime place - scattered houses, footpaths and moorings make it popular with birdwatchers, sailors and walkers heading towards Yarmouth and the nearby nature reserves.
What makes Bouldnor especially notable is the offshore archaeology at Bouldnor Cliff, where a submerged prehistoric landscape has yielded timbers, worked flint and plant remains suggesting early coastal settlement and contacts with continental Europe. Today the local economy is largely shaped by tourism, conservation and small‑scale rural life, so it combines a strong sense of history with a peaceful coastal community.
