Freshwater South is a coastal ward at the western tip of the Isle of Wight, taking in the southern slopes and shoreline around Freshwater Bay. The landscape is dominated by chalk cliffs and rolling downs, with dramatic sea views towards The Needles and Alum Bay, and it is popular with walkers following the South West Coast Path.
The local economy leans on tourism, holiday accommodation and small-scale farming, while the community retains a village feel with local shops and clubs. There are notable historic and cultural links nearby - Farringford (Tennyson’s home) and Afton Down (site of the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival) give the area a strong literary and musical heritage alongside its natural attractions.
