Newchurch is a small, rural parish in the district of Folkestone and Hythe in Kent, set amid the rolling chalk downland of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It lies within easy reach of Folkestone and Canterbury, giving a quiet, country base that’s still accessible to larger towns and the coast.
Characterised by farmland, hedgerows and a scattering of cottages and hamlets, the local economy is traditionally agricultural with many residents commuting out for work. The village takes its name from a historic “new church” and community life still often revolves around the parish church and occasional village events; the surrounding lanes and ridges are popular with walkers and cyclists enjoying the Kent countryside.
