Boughton Monchelsea is a compact village and civil parish in the borough of Maidstone, in Kent, England. It sits on the Greensand Ridge a few miles south of the town, giving a gently undulating rural landscape and good views; despite its countryside setting the village has convenient links into Maidstone and the wider region.
The locality is notable for its long history of Kentish ragstone quarrying, which supplied stone for many regional buildings, and for historic landmarks such as the medieval parish St Peter's Church and the timber-framed Tudor manor Boughton Monchelsea Place. Today the community retains a village-centred social life with a primary school, village hall, pub and local clubs, combining agricultural and commuter influences.
