Boxley is a village and civil parish on the northern edge of Maidstone in Kent, England, combining rural lanes, farmland and pockets of housing. Set on the lower slopes of the North Downs and partly within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it’s a popular spot for walkers and for people commuting into the town or further afield.
Its history is visible in the ruins of Boxley Abbey, a medieval Cistercian foundation dissolved in the 16th century, and in the local ragstone quarries that once supplied building stone across the region. There are nature sites such as Boxley Warren with chalk grassland and ancient woodland, and the area today combines a small village community, agricultural activity and a commuter belt lifestyle.
