Staplehurst is a largely rural, commuter-focused ward in the borough of Maidstone, county of Kent in south-east England. The ward centres on the village of the same name, with a railway station offering regular services into London, and is surrounded by rolling agricultural land and the meandering River Beult, which contributes to the area's green, lowland character.
Locally the ward has a historic high street with some timber-framed buildings, a busy village community with shops, pubs and schools, and a noticeable agricultural heritage from hop and fruit growing. The area also carries historical interest - most famously the 1865 rail crash that involved Charles Dickens - and benefits from pockets of ecological and conservation value along the river and neighbouring countryside.
