Oare is a small coastal parish in the district of Swale, in Kent, sitting beside a tidal creek and wide saltmarshes on the edge of Faversham and the estuary of The Swale. The adjacent Oare Marshes and Oare Creek, part of the broader North Kent Marshes, give the area a very flat, open landscape that supports rich birdlife and reedbeds, making it a favourite for walkers, birdwatchers and photographers.
Historically the settlement has obvious maritime and agricultural roots, with livelihoods traditionally tied to the creek, grazing and small-scale fisheries; a few older buildings hint at that past. Today the local economy leans more on conservation, tourism and farming, and the parish retains a quiet, community-minded atmosphere with seasonal activity linked to nature and the estuary.
