Mirfield is a small market town in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England, set in the Calder Valley on the banks of the River Calder. It sits roughly between Huddersfield and Dewsbury, close to the M62, and benefits from good rail links via Mirfield railway station, with the open moorland of the Pennines close by for countryside walks.
Historically built on textiles and mill-based industry, the town still shows many Victorian buildings and converted mill sites and today functions largely as a mix of local services, light industry and a commuter base. Mirfield is also culturally distinctive for the Anglican monastic Community of the Resurrection and its attached College of the Resurrection, which contribute a long-standing religious and musical presence and host events that draw visitors from the wider region.
