Grange Moor is a small village in the metropolitan borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, set on the A642 between Huddersfield and Wakefield. It occupies gently rolling countryside on the fringe of the Pennines, so the surroundings combine pockets of moorland and farmland with straightforward road links to nearby towns.
Historically the settlement moved from agriculture into the small-scale coal, quarrying and textile trades typical of the West Riding, and today it largely functions as a commuter and residential village with local shops, pubs, a primary school and community clubs. The place still has a village feel - sports teams, social clubs and regular events keep a strong local identity, while many residents travel to larger centres for work.
