Carnforth is a small town in the district of Lancaster, in Lancashire, England, lying a few miles north of Lancaster and near Morecambe Bay and the southern edge of the Lake District. Its proximity to the M6 and to attractive coastal and upland countryside makes it both a local service centre and a convenient base for commuters and walkers.
Historically Carnforth grew as a 19th‑century railway junction and is best known for Carnforth Station, which featured in the film Brief Encounter and now houses a heritage centre celebrating the town’s rail past.
