Barley-with-Wheatley Booth is a small, rural civil parish in the district of Pendle in Lancashire, lying on the western slopes and foothills of Pendle Hill. The landscape is typical of the Lancashire Pennines, with upland pastures, dry stone walls and clusters of stone-built cottages clustered around the tiny village of Barley.
The village is a well known base for walkers and outdoor visitors, so the local economy mixes traditional hill farming with tourism, holiday lets and a few village services such as a pub and small shops. The area also carries historic associations with the 17th-century Pendle witch trials and a long rural textile and agricultural past, giving the community a strong local identity and an active programme of outdoor and seasonal events.
