Bowland is a largely rural electoral ward in the borough of Ribble Valley, Lancashire, England, much of it sitting within the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The ward is characterised by expansive moorland and rolling pastures, drystone walls and scattered villages and hamlets, making it popular with walkers, birdwatchers and hill farmers and offering some of the region’s most dramatic upland scenery.
Economically and socially it remains rooted in pastoral farming and small-scale agriculture, with rural tourism - self-catering cottages, local pubs and guided walks - supplementing incomes. Local life is quiet and close-knit, centred on village halls, historic stone farmhouses and conservation initiatives that reflect a long agricultural past and a strong community interest in protecting the landscape.
