Cosby is a compact village and civil parish in the district of Blaby, in Leicestershire in England, lying about seven miles south of Leicester. Set amid rolling farmland and pockets of woodland, it retains a village green and a conservation character despite being a popular commuter settlement for the city and surrounding road network.
Historically agricultural with medieval roots, the village centre is marked by the medieval St Michael and All Angels church and a number of traditional cottages; the name probably reflects Old Norse origins, the familiar "by" ending denoting a farm or settlement. Community life is active, centred on a primary school, village hall, pubs and sports clubs, with small shops and local businesses serving a largely residential population.
