Foxton is a small village in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England, best known for its dramatic canal structures where the Grand Union Canal drops through the famous flight of Foxton Locks. The flight of ten locks and the surviving machinery from the early 20th-century Foxton Inclined Plane give the village a strong industrial heritage and make it a popular stop for narrowboats, walkers and day visitors coming from nearby Market Harborough.
Historically tied to canal trade and surrounding agriculture, Foxton today mixes a quiet rural community with a visitor-led economy: there are cafés, a couple of traditional pubs and a small museum and visitor centre interpreting the locks and inclined plane. The towpaths, wildlife-rich banks and local events mean the village punches above its size as a social and recreational hub for the locality.
