Market Harborough is a pleasant market town in the district of Harborough, Leicestershire, England, sitting in the shallow valley of the River Welland. It grew from a medieval market centre into a compact town known for a handsome Georgian high street, a historic parish church of St Dionysius, and the nearby Foxton Locks on the Grand Union Canal. The arrival of the railway in the 19th century shaped its development and it still benefits from good rail links to Leicester and London.
Today Market Harborough balances local industry and services with a lively town centre of independent shops, cafés and a regular market, plus community events through the year. Its riverside parks and easy access to surrounding countryside make it popular with families and walkers, while transport connections mean many residents commute to larger nearby centres for work.
