Barwell is a large village and civil parish in the district of Hinckley and Bosworth, in Leicestershire, England, lying on the edge of the Leicestershire countryside a short distance from the market town of Hinckley and within easy commuting range of Leicester and Coventry. The settlement has a mix of suburban housing, local shops and pockets of light industry, set against rolling farmland and a network of lanes that reflect its rural-urban fringe character.
Historically the area was associated with small-scale manufacturing such as hosiery and bootmaking, and today many residents commute while a core of local businesses and community groups keeps village life active. Barwell is perhaps best known for the 1965 meteorite fall, which brought scientific attention and remains a notable part of its modern identity, alongside parish churches, sports clubs and an annual programme of local events.
