Whitwick is a village and civil parish in the district of North West Leicestershire, in the county of Leicestershire, England, lying just to the north‑east of the former mining town of Coalville and within easy reach of Leicester. It sits on the edge of the old Leicestershire coalfield amid gently rolling countryside, so the built environment mixes Victorian terraces and a parish church with newer housing and accessible green spaces and footpaths.
The village grew significantly in the 19th and early 20th centuries with coal mining and related industries, and that industrial heritage remains part of the local identity alongside commemorations and former colliery sites. Today Whitwick is largely a residential and commuter community with local shops, schools and active community groups, while traditional events and a visible Victorian fabric give it a strong sense of place.
