The village and civil parish of Bicker sits in the low-lying Fenland a few miles west of Boston in Lincolnshire, close to the network of drainage channels that characterise the area. The South Forty-Foot Drain passes nearby and the landscape is predominantly reclaimed farmland with long views across the fens towards The Wash.
Historically the settlement grew around a medieval Bicker Haven that served as an inland port before silting and drainage altered the coastline, and its economy has long been centred on arable farming and land reclamation; traces of past small-scale industry remain. Today it feels like a typical Fenland village: quiet lanes, a tight-knit community with local amenities such as a village hall and school, and an interest in preserving both its rural character and heritage.
