Cowbit is a small fenland village and civil parish in the district of South Holland, Lincolnshire, England, lying a few miles south of Spalding. It sits on the drained Fens beside the floodplain known as Cowbit Wash, which is used for seasonal flood storage from the nearby River Welland and creates valuable wetland habitat for wildfowl and waders.
The local economy is chiefly agricultural, with rich loam soils supporting arable, vegetable and bulb growing typical of the wider South Holland area, and the landscape still bears the imprint of large-scale drainage and reclamation. Cowbit retains a traditional village feel with a parish church and community amenities, its character shaped by proximity to market towns and the wide open fenland that surrounds it.
