Market Rasen is a small market town and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England, lying on the banks of the River Rase and close to the fringes of the Lincolnshire Wolds. It retains a traditional market-town character with a mix of Georgian and Victorian buildings and a compact high street that serves the surrounding farming communities.
The town is best known for Market Rasen Racecourse, a popular National Hunt venue that brings in visitors and helps sustain local shops and hospitality. Historically a market centre since medieval times, it also attracted wider attention when a noticeable earthquake was centred nearby in 2008; today it functions as a quiet service centre and commuter base for nearby centres such as Lincoln, while keeping a strong community and rural identity.
