Strumpshaw is a small village and civil parish in the district of Broadland, in rural Norfolk, England, set beside the marshy floodplain of the River Yare and a short drive east of Norwich. The landscape is classic Broads country - reedbeds, grazing marsh and winding waterways - and that wetland setting strongly shapes the village’s character.
The area is best known for the nature reserve Strumpshaw Fen, popular with birdwatchers for species such as bitterns and marsh harriers, and for the volunteer-run Strumpshaw Hall Steam Museum. The local economy remains largely agricultural with a healthy dose of wildlife tourism, and socially it feels like a small, close‑knit rural community with long historic ties to fenland drainage and river navigation.
