Sheringham is a small coastal town and civil parish on the north Norfolk coast in North Norfolk, England. It sits on a shingle beach beneath low cliffs and the wooded ridge of Beeston Bump, backed by heathland and farmland and close to the sweeping landscapes of the Norfolk Coast AONB.
Historically a fishing port, the town still has a working fleet and a strong seaside tourism economy, with a Victorian promenade, independent shops and cafés, a lifeboat station and a small local museum at the Mo, Sheringham Museum. The arrival of the railway in the 19th century spurred growth and today the preserved steam North Norfolk Railway - the Poppy Line - links Sheringham with Holt, while nearby Sheringham Park, owned by the National Trust, attracts walkers and gardeners to its designed landscape.
