Locking is a small village and civil parish in North Somerset, located just a few miles inland from the Bristol Channel and close to Weston-super-Mare. It sits on the fringe of the low-lying Somerset Levels with easy access to the M5, and has views across towards the Mendip Hills and, on a clear day, Bristol.
The village has a strong community feel and a notable recent past as the site of RAF Locking, a long‑running Royal Air Force technical and training station whose land has largely been redeveloped for housing and local businesses as part of the Locking Parklands project. Many residents commute to nearby towns and cities while local life revolves around the village hall, church and small shops and pubs, giving it a blend of rural character and commuter convenience.
