Pill and Easton-in-Gordano are neighbouring villages tucked into the green bowl of the Gordano Valley in North Somerset, sitting on the banks of the Severn Estuary a few miles west of Bristol. The area is defined by dramatic tidal creeks and estuary views, with old quays and narrow lanes giving way to riverside walks and birdwatching opportunities; the name "Pill" itself comes from a West Country word for a tidal inlet.
Historically the settlements had a strong maritime and boatbuilding connection and later links to nearby industry around the port, but today they feel largely residential and village‑centred, with many people commuting to Bristol or using the M5. There’s a lively local community spirit reflected in village halls, pubs and sailing or outdoor groups, and the mix of Victorian cottages and more recent homes keeps the area attractive to families and visitors.
