Beamsley is a small, predominantly rural parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, sitting on the eastern rim of the Yorkshire Dales a few miles from the market town of Skipton. The landscape is typical of the area - rolling pastures, drystone walls and stone-built farmsteads - and is dominated by the well-known hill Beamsley Beacon, whose grassy tumulus gives wide views across Airedale to the Pennines.
Traditionally agricultural, the parish now mixes farming with small-scale tourism and some commuter households, and is popular with walkers who use the network of lanes and rights of way. Local history and community life are quietly visible in old barns, lanes and the Beacon, which serves as a familiar local landmark and meeting point rather than a busy commercial attraction.
