Byram is a small village in the district of Selby in North Yorkshire, England. It sits close to the River Aire and the Aire and Calder Navigation, and its development was shaped by traditional agriculture and the nearby coalfield in the 19th and 20th centuries; historically the area formed part of the West Riding of Yorkshire.
Today Byram is largely residential with a village hall and local pub life, serving as a quiet commuter base for nearby towns such as Knottingley, Castleford and Leeds. The riverside towpaths and nearby green spaces, including Fairburn Ings, make it popular with walkers and birdwatchers, so the village combines a rural feel with good links to larger centres.
