Byram cum Sutton is a small, largely rural civil parish in North Yorkshire, within the district of Selby, made up mainly of the villages of Byram and Sutton. The parish sits on the edge of the Aire valley close to the River Aire and is within easy reach of the former industrial communities around Knottingley, giving it a mix of agricultural landscape and riverside character.
Community life is quietly village‑centred, with a parish church, village hall and local pubs playing a big part in social activity, while surrounding fields and towpaths attract walkers and anglers. Historically the area grew from estate and farming roots and saw administrative change in the 1970s; today it retains a strong rural feel while being convenient for nearby towns and transport corridors.
