The twin villages of Glusburn and Cross Hills lie in the Aire Valley of North Yorkshire, roughly between Skipton and Keighley. The setting is characteristically Pennine-foothill countryside with the River Aire and green farmland close by, and a mix of stone-built terraces, Victorian mill buildings and more modern housing giving the area a distinct industrial‑heritage look.
Historically the settlements grew up around 19th‑century textiles and associated mills, and remnants of that era - mill chimneys, workshops and workers’ housing - still shape the local townscape. Today the neighbourhood combines small industry and retail, a sizeable commuting population, and an active community life centred on village halls, clubs and seasonal events; nearby Kildwick contributes an ancient church and historic bridges that underline the parish’s long local history.
