Hampsthwaite is a village and civil parish in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England, set on the banks of the River Nidd at the edge of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It lies a few miles from Harrogate and Knaresborough, so it’s popular with walkers, cyclists and people who commute into nearby towns but prefer a rural base.
The village has a compact historic centre of stone houses, a primary school, a couple of pubs and small shops, and a strong local community spirit. Surrounding farmland still reflects its agricultural roots, while conservation designations and attractive river valley scenery help keep Hampsthwaite’s village character and draw visitors for short walks and local events.
