Ripley is a small village and civil parish in the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, set in attractive parkland a short drive from the spa town and within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales. The village clusters around a green and narrow lanes of stone-built houses and is dominated by Ripley Castle, an historic family seat with formal gardens, a lake and parkland.
The castle and its estate are key to local life, drawing visitors and supporting a tourism-led economy alongside surrounding farms, while many residents commute to nearby towns. Socially it feels like a close-knit rural community with a strong sense of heritage - the castle, its grounds and occasional open events give the place much of its character.
