Stonegrave is a small rural civil parish in Ryedale, North Yorkshire, set amid rolling farmland on the edge of the Howardian Hills and within easy reach of the North York Moors. It is a sparsely populated area of fields, hedgerows and country lanes, a short drive from market towns such as Helmsley and Malton.
With medieval roots the parish retains several listed buildings including a historic church and traditional farmhouses; agriculture - both arable and livestock - remains the backbone of the local economy, complemented by rural tourism and commuting to nearby towns. Social life is quietly village‑centred, with residents using neighbouring villages for shops and schools, and plenty of walking and cycling routes for visitors and locals alike.
