Slingsby is a small village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, sitting on the western edge of the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the fringe of the North York Moors. It has a compact centre of stone cottages and a rural character, with nearby market towns such as Malton and the city of York within easy reach.
Historically the village grew around a medieval manor and the local seat, Slingsby Castle, and you can still see centuries-old architecture in and around the streets. Agriculture has long shaped the local economy, but today a mix of small businesses, tourism and commuters gives the place a quietly active social life; the surrounding rolling countryside is popular with walkers and cyclists and community events help retain a strong village identity.
