Wetherby is a market town in the metropolitan borough of Leeds, England, sitting on the north bank of the River Wharfe roughly between Leeds and York. Historically a coaching stop and part of the old West Riding of Yorkshire, it retains a compact Georgian high street, independent shops and cafés and a strong sense of local community.
The town is known for Wetherby Racecourse on its outskirts and for being a commuter-friendly hub because of the nearby A1(M); it lost its railway station in the 1960s but remains well connected by road. Wetherby also has a history of river flooding, addressed by recent flood‑defence work, and hosts regular events and markets that help keep its historic centre lively.
