Misson is a village and civil parish in the Bassetlaw district of Nottinghamshire, in the north of the county close to the borders with South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. It lies beside the River Idle on the edge of the low-lying, historically reclaimed wetlands of Hatfield Chase, so the local landscape mixes higher village ground with surrounding peat and marshland.
The area is notable for its wetland habitats, including the nearby Misson Carr, and for a rural economy dominated by farming alongside a handful of small businesses; the parish retains a number of historic buildings and a working village community with regular local events. Its history is shaped by land drainage and river management, which gives the place an interesting mix of agricultural, ecological and industrial heritage.
