Bestwood Village sits on the northern fringe of Nottingham within the borough of Gedling in Nottinghamshire, England. Originally shaped by the estate of Bestwood Lodge and later by coal mining, the village retains a strong Victorian character: stone cottages, an ornate pumping station and other listed buildings hint at its ducal and industrial past, while the disused pit site and surviving colliery structures recall its role as Bestwood Colliery in the county’s mining story.
Today the settlement has a village feel with a mix of long‑standing community life and commuters heading into Nottingham. Adjacent green resources such as Bestwood Country Park provide extensive woodland, open spaces and walking routes, making the area popular for outdoor recreation; local preservation efforts and sensitive development have kept much of the historic character while supporting small shops, community groups and light local industry.
