Calverton is a sizeable village and civil parish in the borough of Gedling, Nottinghamshire, sitting roughly eight miles north of Nottingham. It combines a traditional high street of shops, pubs and community facilities with pockets of older stone cottages and more recent housing, and is edged by pleasant countryside and woodland with easy access to the wider Sherwood Forest area.
Historically an agricultural settlement that broadened through local trades in the 19th and 20th centuries, Calverton saw housing and employment grow with improved transport links and industry, so today it functions partly as a commuter village for Nottingham while retaining an active local community - village halls, clubs and annual events keep a strong social fabric alongside pockets of local heritage.
