Ravenshead is a sizeable village and civil parish in the borough of Gedling, Nottinghamshire, England, sitting just to the north of Nottingham on higher ground that gives pleasant views over the surrounding countryside. It lies close to the remnants of heath and woodland that link into the historic landscape of Sherwood Forest and is within easy reach of the estate and parkland around Newstead Abbey.
Much of the modern village expanded in the mid‑ to late‑20th century from scattered hamlets and estate land, and today it combines commuter households with a strong local community: schools, sports clubs and small shops form the centrepiece of village life. The area keeps a semi‑rural feel thanks to woodland, footpaths and green spaces, making it a popular choice for families and those working in nearby towns such as Nottingham and Mansfield.
