Newstead is a small village in the borough of Gedling, tucked into the northern edge of Nottingham in Nottinghamshire, England. It sits beside the attractive parkland of Newstead Abbey and the meandering River Leen, giving the village a mix of riverside walks, historic landscape and easy access to the city for commuters.
Historically the area grew around the Abbey - once the ancestral home of Lord Byron - and later a coal-mining economy with the old Newstead Colliery, so you’ll find a post-industrial community with strong local identity, volunteering groups and a modest tourism trade centred on the abbey, park events and countryside trails.
