Cotgrave is a compact village and civil parish in Rushcliffe, Nottinghamshire, England, lying roughly six miles south‑east of Nottingham. It occupies gently undulating countryside and is notable for the reclamation of its former mining landscape into green spaces - most visibly Cotgrave Country Park with lakes and reedbeds that are popular with walkers, anglers and wildlife watchers.
Although the settlement has older roots, the 20th‑century coal industry shaped much of its character: Cotgrave Colliery spurred rapid expansion and, after closure, the village went through regeneration with new housing and employment areas. Today it functions largely as a commuter and local service centre with an active community life, various sports clubs and events, and a visible mining heritage woven into local buildings and memorials.
