Islip is a small village and civil parish in the district of Cherwell, in Oxfordshire, England, lying roughly six miles north of Oxford and close to the course of the River Ray. The settlement has a long history - local tradition links it with the birth of King Edward the Confessor - and the parish retains a medieval core centred on St Nicholas Church and a number of older cottages and farm buildings.
Today it combines a quiet rural character with a lively village community: small-scale farming and local businesses sit alongside commuter households, and there are village amenities such as a hall and local pub that host events through the year. The surrounding meadows and riverside corridors make it a pleasant base for country walks and for exploring the northern approaches to Oxford.
