Upper Heyford is a small village and parish in Cherwell, Oxfordshire, England, set beside the rolling farmland of north Oxfordshire and close to the banks of the River Cherwell. The core still has a traditional feel, with stone cottages, a parish church and a tight-knit community, while its location makes it an attractive spot for commuters heading to nearby towns such as Bicester.
The village is best known for the former airbase, RAF Upper Heyford, long used by the Royal Air Force and later the USAF during the Cold War; that site has since been partly redeveloped into the mixed residential and business area called Heyford Park. The contrast between historic rural settlement and Cold War aviation heritage gives the place an unusual cultural and historic mix, with local life combining agriculture, small businesses and a dose of aviation tourism and interest.
